Any Sparks of Hope for Somalia?

So to begin, I'd like to ask you what you did today, on this hot summer day (the weather that's in Canada, that is). If you are still a student, I'd be guessing you probably went to camp, or just came back from a vacation,  maybe stayed at home and mingled on YouTube, Facebook and Tumblr, better yet went out to do some volunteer work? If you are an older audience, I'd think you probably had a long day of work, engaging in activities that hopefully provides for your family, or maybe just yourself. But during this time I'm assuming you could had easy access to a sip of water, or a bite of a cream filled bagel here or there.

Meanwhile in Somalia, there is a devastating disaster at work. Somalia had been hit hard with drought. The residents hasn't seen rain in an extremely long period of time. As many of us know Somalia is a developing country, people there usually make a living out of small trades of farm goods. Without rain, there would be no harvest, there would be no food to trade, therefore no food to eat.

Many of the country's people have fled, walking to neighboring countries like Ethiopia, in search of food. You might as well call this a hunger journey. Many families walk up to 30 days to cross borders with the little possessions that they have. Unfortunately, at the bordering areas, they're usually robbed clean by thugs and thieves.

One mother had walked with her three children on a voyage to a refugee camp, on the way, her youngest and smallest child died, but she did not even have the energy to properly dig a grave for him - his body was left to rot in the hot day. When asked why, she replied that she must ensure that her other two children must reach safety.

In these camps, people well over thousands are concentrated over a small area, which makes the spreading of diseases such as measles and whooping cough faster than ever.  International organizations have lent helping hands in the area, but recently the Al-Shabaab, a organization led by Al-Qaeda said that western countries are taking this opportunity to kill their citizens, which I find absolutely absurd. Whatever the real reason behind their decision is, it is still a brutal and cruel one.
